Following in the footsteps of the successful 2016 vintage, the 2017 growing season was marked with generous rainfall in the late winter followed by a long, hot and dry summer. What resulted was an intense concentration of berries allowing for a wine of remarkable complexity. Harvested at sunrise on September 22nd, 2017, the 2017 G.B. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon immediately expresses the unique representation of its time and place.
Production 10 Barrels
Blend Composition 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petite Sirah
Tasting Notes
A dark garnet with a touch of vermillion on the rim, the wine opens with layers of ripe blue fruits, black cherry, cedar box, dried tobacco and tarragon. Robust on entry with notes of ripe plum and dark chocolate, the mid-palate conjures a tantalizing earthiness, a pluot reduction, a bouquet garni, all framed by a band of acidity and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Energetic through the finish, the wine closes with dusty, velvety tannins, licorice and a lingering orange peel.
